What happens if Jesus is really king of our personal lives? If we are going to take stock of and measure ourselves, are we going to be satisfied with what we see? During the time of Amos, pinasukat ng Diyos ang pader ng Jerusalem. Are you what you need to be? Are you what you want to be? And most importantly are you what God wants you to become?
When a sculpture looks at a piece of wood, he sees the art
that he can make out of it—the finished product. Ano kaya ang nakikita ng Diyos
sa atin at ano yung talagang tayo? What could God be seeing when He looks at
you right now? What could be the other you—the potential you? What could become
of us if only the Lord would have His way and our cooperation?
Marami tayong nakikitang mga bata sa lansangan. Minsan may
itinitinda. Minsan nagpapalaboy-laboy. Bawat isa sa kanila ay may angking
galing. Siguradong may mga gift ito. May mga talent. Pero yung potential kaya,
mangyayari? Give them 70 years to live, 80, 50, 90 even, mangyayari ba yung
potential? Maraming hahadlang. Hahadlang yung poverty. Hahadlang yung sickness.
Hahadlang yung romance. Hahadlang yung kung anu-anong agenda. But I believe God
is fair and that He gives everyone a chance. He has a plan for everyone. It is
the will of God that everyone shall have a fruitful, beautiful and peaceful
life. But not all of those good things happen because other things happen along
the way. Nagkakaroon ng sagabal at abala.
Looking beyond what we are now, what could the Lord be
seeing? The Lord sees what we can be. A person molded in God’s image. Full of
holiness, wisdom and compassion. God looks beyond us and sees the potential.
God sees His intentions for us—a person who is victorious, productive, joyful,
peaceful and contented. A person who can truthfully, honestly and confidently
say, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.”
God gave us free will, and it is one God’s best gift to us.
The will to choose. To be holy and to love is choice. God has a perfect will
for us.
